Beth graduated cum laude from Florida State University where she won the Outstanding Student in Art award. After graduation, Beth worked as a fashion illustrator while continuing to pursue her studio work. Beth studied portrait painting from life for ten years with Russian artist Constantine Chatov. During this formative time, Beth developed the distinctive use of color and brushwork that readily distinguishes her work.
"Beth Stephens does superior, consistent, beautiful work. This artist fully deserves to be recognized for her talent and enormous ability. Beautiful paint quality, superb compositions, a fresh natural Sargent/Beaux-like approach by someone with a total command of her medium."
– Daniel Greene
Beth has been awarded for her work including first place by the Portrait Society in 1999 and first place in the prestigious National Portrait Competition in 1998 where she received top honors among more than 1,000 entries. Her award-winning portrait was displayed in the Rotunda of the Richard Russell building, which houses the United States Senate office in Washington, D.C..

Dear Beth,
Thank you again for capturing little Halsey forever in a beautiful painting. I just want to tell you that the compliments have been pouring in - nothing short of pure praise and amazement! My friend Mary L. actually cried as she was so moved when she saw it! I will gaze upon it and get so much enjoyment throughout my years! Thank you again for freezing a moment in time that goes by all too quickly.

Dear Beth,
Needless to say we are so beautifully reminded of you every day. We are so enjoying these portraits just as much (if not more) as the first day they arrived. Christmas '04 will always be a highlight in our lives.
Many thanks,
